Earth moving

E-mail Print PDF

landslide january 2014After heavy rain for days and weeks the earth started to move in the hill above Skriduklaustur. A landslide came from about 200 m up in the hill and fell all the way down to the road which had to be cleared after it. This happened in the night 23th January. The landslide is about 40 m broad and destroyed the fence and quite a bit of land. The name Skriduklaustur means the cloister by the landslides so the place still bears it's name with full right. springing young and fresh
