Festival day with Valdimar

©spessiThe annual festival day of Ormsteiti festival is Sunday 24th August. The program by the home of Gunnar Gunnarsson starts at 13.30 with concert of the rock group VALDIMAR. Then is the traditional competition of Þristur where you can lift heavy stones, run with lambs between you legs and throw rhubarb. It all ends at 16.30 with lutherian-catholic service by the ruins of the 16th century monastic church of Skriðuklaustur. All welcome and of course Klausturkaffi offers lunch and cake buffet as well as the exhibitions are open.


Broderi temari balls

audurbergsteins1minAuður Bergsteinsdóttir exhibits her broderi temari balls in gallery Klaustur. Auður is born in Fljotsdalur valley but has been living in Reykjavik since young. She seeks inspiration for her temari balls in Icelandic handcraft and the nature. Her exhibition at Skriðuklaustur is open every day until 7th September.


Beautiful charcoal drawings

Ólöf Birna BlöndalÓlöf Birna Blöndal has opened an exhibition in gallery Klaustur. There are 12 charcoal drawings on display made in recent months. The motif is rocks, basalt columns, mountains and stone formations. The title of the exhibition is "At the rocks". Ólöf Birna Blöndal exhibited her works in gallery Klaustur last in the year 2001 but since then she has had many solo exhibitions and taken part in group exhibitions. Her last exhbition was this spring the the gallery of Icelandic graphic in Reykjavík.  The exhibition is on til 13th August and is open every day from 10.00 - 18.00.


Lagarfljot Colors

arniharaldsThe Canadian-Icelandic photographer Arni Haraldsson has opened an exhibition in gallery Klaustur with 12 pictures of lake Lagarfljót. These pictures were taken in the summer 2001 when Haraldsson was an artist in residence at Skriðuklaustur. Back then he shot the landscape around Lagarfljót in various conditions and different light, not least in the bright summer night. Arni Haraldsson has now returned to the AiR program Klaustrid to take more photos in this series. He is associate professor at Emily Carr Universityr of Art in Vancouver and has exhibited his photographic work nationally and internationally.
