skriduklaustur23Today 11th October was the last day of our daily opening hours since 1st April. We will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until end of October from 12:00-15:00. After that groups that are interested in our service can contact us. Thank you for a long summer and all the visits. Follow our Facebook to notice winter events.

melarettThe annually sheep gathering in Fljotsdalur valley at Melarétt HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER DUE TO WEATHER. Therefore there will be shorter opening hours that day at Skriðuklaustur. We will only be open from 15:00-17:00 in the afternoon but at that time there will be afternoon buffet and exhibitions will be open. For those who are interested in the sheep gathering the roundup starts at 11:00 close to Skriðuklaustur and the main fun around 13:00. Our opening hours in September all other days are 11:00-17:00 and in October we will be open every day from 12:00-16:00 until the 11th October.

Poetry reading on Saturday

ljodahatid2017Litla ljóðahátíðin í Norðausturríki which is an annual poetry event in the north and east of Iceland, will drop by at the cultural centre next Saturday, 26th August. Some of the best Icelandic poets will read from their works at 14:00. They are: Þórunn Jarla Valdimarsdóttir, Sigurbjörg Þrastardóttir, Kristín Ómarsdóttir, Lommi and as special guest, Steinunn Ásmundsdóttir. Poetry loveing people and others are welcome to listen. NOTICE: KLAUSTURKAFFI WILL BE CLOSED from 15:00 that Saturday due to a privat party so we recommend people to come for lunch if they have hunger for more the poetry.
